Leftovers
Thanksgiving has come and gone. A nice four-day break from the daily barrage of design requests at work and a chance to see how smoked turkey and chocolate silk pie sat with my system.
On Friday, Amy and I ventured out to Northpark for some day after Thanksgiving shopping. Amazingly, the mall didn't seem all that busy or crowded and we were able to get a lot of shopping done. Well I did at least, a bunch of Christmas presents and some stuff that I couldn't pass up for myself. The weekend also saw the annual trek to the gift wrap wonderland at Container Store though I only picked up a couple rolls since our apartment seems to be overflowing with wrapping paper.
I had hoped to be better by Thanksgiving, but I'm not where I had hoped I would be. My GI doctor is concerned that the Remicade should have had more of an effect in getting my symptoms under control by now. However, it's only been a little over a month since the first treatment and some of the documentation I have read about this medicine says that it often takes up to eight weeks for the symptoms to go away. So here's hoping by Christmas...
Still, I think I have been feeling a bit better over the past week or so in general but it varies day to day. Besides the Thanksgiving expeditions, I've actually been able to go out curling and Amy and I made a big trip to IKEA the other weekend. It's nice to get out and about. It would be a lot nicer to be able to eat and drink while I was out and not have to schedule all of my trips out during the brief windows every day when I know that I'll be feeling pretty good. It would also be nice to actually sleep through the night for a change. But until things subside a little, that's life.
